About Anna Docherty

DochertyHR was set up in 2006 by Anna Docherty after doing some consultancy work for some local companies in West London.  Anna realised that there was a missing support link for small, growing businesses with no in-house HR resource who needed no nonsense, down to earth advice as their business grows. Anna passionately supports the creativity and drive that is needed for small companies to grow and is delighted that she is able to give her expertise in this area to enhance their success.

Anna attended Nottingham University and then did a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources. She is a member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development). Alongside her qualifications she has 15 years experience working in Human Resources, both at large multinational companies such as American Express and Ford Motor Company, as well as for a medium-sized printing company where she set up an HR function from scratch.

During her years spent in HR, Anna has developed a strong understanding of the different things that make employees and employers “tick” and how to nurture and build strong relationships both with employers and employees. She can be very empathetic to individuals and their concerns but also will speak candidly when she feel that this will enhance the situation. Overall she prides herself on giving leaders honest, practical advice when it comes to managing their teams.

Anna likes to ensure that as well as working with employers, that she also stays in touch with the situations that employees sometimes face. So she also works as an “HR Expert” for the working mums website (www.workingmums.co.uk) where she provides online advice to working parents.
